Growing up as I did with Ikea magazines that were always a pleasure to look at, imagine my frustration when we could not get the beautiful furniture pieces proudly displayed on the pages. The same goes for furniture today as well. Ikea didn’t sell furniture in India then, and lugging heavy pieces across continents was never an option.

Someone sitting in some small city may have heard of the cheap wood furniture of Jaipur. Jaipur is called the furniture capital of India. But for him, it would be difficult indeed to get a hold of this furniture. It would take a lot of effort, not to mention time and money, to accomplish this task. Plan would include travelling to Jaipur, scouting for and locating the perfect piece, striking a good bargain and finally, transporting the piece to another location altogether.

So you choose the local store, the one very near to you. Most of the times you may not be that lucky to find the best design suiting your choice, style and pocket. You may or mayn't find designer furniture near you.

It’s a good idea to show your trusted local carpenter an image of what exactly you’re looking for, so that he can craft the piece for you. But if you don’t have a trusted carpenter it’s probably best to buy furniture online. That way you can choose from a wide variety of designs, materials and styles, and have it delivered right to your doorstep.
